Classic Cosmopolitan
Sure, I started drinking Cosmos in 1999 because I considered myself to be exactly like Carrie Bradshaw. And then I stopped drinking them around 2004 because they reminded me of all the stupid crap I did in my 20's after having a few. But I had one again-for-the-first-time the other night, and I was reminded that it's a damn good cocktail. A few critical rules: Do not use any kind of mix. Do not substitute triple sec. Do not put any kind of sugary crap on the rim of the glass, and ONLY use the freshest of lime juice and best quality of 100% cranberry juice. In other words: DO NOT STRAY FROM THIS RECIPE.
For one cocktail:
2 oz good quality vodka
3/4 oz Cointreau
3/4 oz freshly-squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz 100% cranberry juice
1/4 oz agave or simple syrup
lime wheel or twist to garnish
Shake with ice and strain into a well-chilled martini glass or coupe. Garnish with a lime wheel or twist.
